Rep. Al Riley will vote for the freedom to marry

RileyAs Illinois lawmakers prepare to return to Springfield tomorrow for the final day of fall veto session, momentum for the freedom to marry continues to build! Rep. Al Riley — who has previously not committed to a “yes” or “no” vote on SB10 — announced this week that he will vote in favor of the marriage bill once it reaches the House floor.

Rep. Riley joins a growing number of Illinoisans voicing their support for the freedom to marry, including Rep. Deb Conroy who announced last week that she will vote “yes” on SB10.

The clock is ticking to win marriage for gay and lesbian couples in Illinois this year. The final day of fall veto session is November 7th — which means it’s up to Illinois lawmakers to call and pass SB10 in the next 72 hours to ensure that no Illinois family is ever again denied the protections and respect that only marriage can provide.
